Description of position offered
The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care is seeking an outstanding candidate for Research Assistant Professorship. This young PI position is intended to a bright mind who want to establish a research program under the mentorship of a senior professor. The candidate with exceptional skills in host-microbe interactions or phage biology or antimicrobial resistance would be given priority.
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
Education: PhD in microbiology or immunology.
Experience: Significant experience in both wet lab and dry lab for studying host-microbe interactions, particularly in microbiome or phage biology or antimicrobial resistance. Bioinformatics and machine learning analysis and epidemiology research is essential.
Analytical Skills: Ability to create analytical frameworks to disentangle host-microbe interactions in early life using multi-omics data.
Commitment: Strong dedication to research excellence, teaching, and mentorship.
Publications: A track record of research outputs that meet the RAE 2020 assessment grading of 3* and/or 4* or the equivalent in the latest RAE; and publications in high-impact international journals.
Teamwork: Strong sense of responsibility and a collaborative spirit.
The appointee will (a) apply for external competitive research grants; (b) participate and/or develop in independent and/or collaborative research projects; (c) coordinate research projects and publish peer-reviewed papers; (d) be involved in teaching, student supervision and related administrative duties.
Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance, funding availability and mutual agreement.
